About YORhub
YORhub is the collaborative construction procurement hub for the Yorkshire and Humber region, we offer a suite of building, civil engineering and consultancy frameworks for the public sector. Its creation was approved in 2007 by the 22 Yorkshire & Humber local authorities who recognised the procurement and construction efficiencies, and improvement to social value outcomes, to be gained by construction projects delivered via a local regional construction hub that is for the public sector by the public sector.
YORhub provides best-value construction frameworks with built in class leading social value initiatives for the benefit of all our public sector peers and their communities in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Our clients can be confident that YORhub’s deep understanding of public sector needs means we will always deliver practical solutions that work for them, in a way that works for them.
What do clients love about YORhub?
Our expert team of friendly, approachable framework managers that have vast, first-hand public sector procurement and construction experience. We are a safe pair of hands because we know what our clients want and need because we want and need it to. We speak their language and share their ethos. YORhub is not commercially driven, its primary focus is delivering best value and sharing knowledge for the benefit of the region and beyond. We were consulted by both the Northern Ireland Government and the Scottish Government on how to establish frameworks that deliver quality construction projects and deliver our core values of economic regeneration, efficiency, employment and skills, supply chain engagement and sustainability.
With over 15 years of delivering efficient, high-quality, cost-effective projects you can be assured your project is safe with YORhub.
What are YORhub’s most innovative public sector build projects and what makes them special?
Since YORhub was founded in 2010 we have delivered over £2.5bn of projects, many of which have achieved recognition through national awards, so it is very difficult to select just a few to highlight. In our building frameworks they include a £25m Leisure Centre that won the Constructing Excellence BIM project of the year and a state-of-the-art Crematorium that was sensitively delivered with the community in mind and includes many sustainability and environmental measures.
Our civil engineering projects include a £10m flood defence scheme that protects infrastructure and 4,000 houses from flooding yet maintains the amazing views of the Humber by its innovative 435m long glass wall. It won Civils Project of the Year at the Constructing Excellence National Awards for the glass wall and its ecological considerations.
What makes YORhub proud to be a part of the Yorkshire and Humber region?
Well Yorkshire is known as ‘God’s own County’ due to its stunning landscapes (which is why it has three national parks), amazing architecture, vibrant culture and wonderful friendly people. With initiatives such as our partnership with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and our SIG Sustainability Group we aim to deliver environmentally friendly projects for our communities where ever possible.
What does YORhub do to support your local communities?
YORhub frameworks all include employment and skills plans, sustainability initiatives, and contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for the region. We launched our Supply Chain Engagement programme in 2010 that currently is being revamped by working with Innovate UK (part of government) and Leeds Beckett University to provide an exemplar for others to follow. We have supported over 180 community development projects through our YOR4Good fund community fund.
How did YORhub first become involved with the NACF?
YORhub is a founding member of the NACF, we were involved in the pre NACF meetings in 2013 that led to the formation of the NACF in 2014. By collaborating with NACF colleagues we believe NACF set the standards for framework procurement excellence by establishing the NACF Framework Attributes that many years later were adopted by Government in laying out the standards required to be a Gold Standard Framework.
Why is NACF important in the construction industry?
NACF promotes best practice within construction frameworks, fostering collaboration between stakeholders in the public sector and improving project delivery. By advocating best practice, the NACF helps ensure its frameworks meet high standards and thereby increasing quality and performance and reducing costs and timescales – delivering better projects more quickly.
The NACF offers support and advocacy for its members, promoting better procurement in the public sector. NACF influences policy within the construction industry by advocacy on behalf of its members and working with government and NGOs.
What would be YORhub’s best piece of advice for a public sector organisation considering using a framework?
Talk to your local NACF member. We are award winning, solely public sector framework providers and we have first-hand experience of the challenges you face. We will help you identify your needs, requirements and objectives and set clear outcomes from the start. We are happy to share our framework experience with other public sector organisations outside the region for the wider benefit of all.
